Doing something meaningful about climate change

Want to do something meaningful about climate change?
Now you can, by supporting NJPACE
Most of us now realize that climate change is no joke. The burning of fossil fuels, the release of methane from gas wells and fracking, the enormous wastage of energy and materials in our society, and the historical legacy of the industrial revolution — these are leading to both long term and short term consequences. Consequences for us and for our children.
We saw some of this with Superstorm Sandy. A mere six inches in sea level rise was able to raise the storm surge to a level that flooded lower Manhattan and destroyed large parts of the Jersey Shore. And we know that's just the beginning. Unless we change course, the temperature will continue to rise, leading to more extreme weather events, human tragedy, and economic damage. Yes, we have to bring the rest of the planet along with us. And yes, we need to start right now, right here in our own communities.
But what can any of us really do about it? We know it's not enough to change our light bulbs, recycle more, and make our own compost. These are all good, but they barely scratch the surface. What we really need is to change our energy systems — to conserve more, and switch our usage to cleaner sources, like solar and wind. This is not something we can do on our own. We need our economy to change, to reward clean energy on a broader commercial and industrial scale.
This is what New Jersey PACE — a statewide 501c3 program — is all about. With your help, we can bring mainstream capital to Main Street, investing the dollars that our communities need to move into a clean energy future. We can do this by leveraging current legislation that allows municipalities to launch local PACE programs, and supporting new legislation to expand PACE to cover resiliency, water conservation, and storm shelters. We need you to sign on to this program, to vote for this change with your voice and with your wallet.
We're not talking a lot of moolah. The beauty of crowdfunding is that if each person contributes $10, $20, $100, we can put together what we need to get this program going in New Jersey. And once it is going, it will be self-supporting. So give what you can now, and we'll multiply it a thousand-fold tomorrow. Learn about PACE and spread the word in your community. Work with us to get new legislation that expands our capacity. And share your knowledge and ideas and energy with us, so we can build a better future for all New Jerseyans.
